Programme

Raising a dwelling house

À propos

Built in the 1950s in the dense historic fabric of Quai Sainte-Barbe and Rue des Tanneurs, the existing house has no outdoor space because it is so enclosed in the block.

The owner wanted to create a roof extension to create a multi-purpose space and a terrace.

The design proposes to create a space that is totally open onto the Meuse through a large bay window immersing the volume in the trees. A balcony and a loggia set the scene for the whole of this space overlooking the river. The sober, immaterial design of the extension enhances the rich architecture of the Quai Sainte-Barbe without confusion or conflict.

To the rear, an ideally oriented terrace (south-west) is set in a world of roofs.
