Cities Connection Project: an architectural immersion in Liège with Archi Urbain
In May, the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Liège, in partnership with Noshaq and with the support of Wallonie-Bruxelles Architectures, hosted the exhibition Cities Connection Project 07 – Architecture in Transition. The exhibition was accompanied by a programme of visits and meetings bringing together ULiège students and architects from Catalonia, Luxembourg, Italy and France to explore Liège's contemporary architectural scene.
Produced by Mister Emma, the final episode of Archi Urbain Season 20 looks back on these two days of exchanges, offering an immersion into this architectural itinerary organised as part of Cities Connection Project.
An itinerary through the transformation of Liège
The programme highlighted a series of emblematic projects illustrating the diversity of architectural approaches currently shaping the Liège region.
The visits began at the TrinkHall Museum, designed by Beguin-Massart, before continuing to Val Benoît to discover ARC, a co-living project by ARTAU. Guided by Pierre de Wit, the group then headed to Sclessin to visit the Sclessin Medical Centre, before continuing to Ougrée, where participants explored the Ateliers Centraux by Baumans-Deffet and OM by Atelier Chora, two projects that reflect the ongoing regeneration of Liège's former industrial landscapes.
The itinerary also included two major cultural facilities: the Théâtre de Liège and the Mosa Ballet School, both designed by DA Architectes, before continuing to Quai Godefroid Kurth, a housing project by Olivier Fourneau.
The programme concluded on the rooftop of the Cité administrative, rehabilitated by Baumans-Deffet, offering participants a new perspective on the city's ongoing urban transformation.
